You complete training directly with a registered provider. We administer your certification exam once training is complete.
1 Asbestos Academy administers your WorkSafeBC certification exam. The training course itself is completed directly with a separate WorkSafeBC registered training provider, including a $50 course registration fee paid to their registration portal at time of registration. 1 Asbestos Academy does not deliver the training content and is not responsible for its availability or scheduling.
Register and complete training with a registered provider
Register directly with a WorkSafeBC registered Level 3 training provider and pay their $50 course registration fee at time of registration. Complete the self-paced online training program at your own pace.
Email us your certificates
Send your valid Level 2 Asbestos Safety digital certificate and your training provider's certificate of completion to [email protected]. This confirms your eligibility and gets your exam scheduled.
We book your certification exam
Once we receive your Level 2 certificate and proof of training completion, we schedule your WorkSafeBC Level 3 certification exam, delivered through the WorkSafeBC approved LMS with Zoom invigilation. Exams are administered 7 days a week. The exam is 1 hour, open book, with a passing grade of 80%.
Write your WorkSafeBC exam and receive your certificate
The exam is delivered through the WorkSafeBC approved LMS. 1 Asbestos Academy provides invigilation via Zoom under WorkSafeBC authorized requirements. Results are submitted to WorkSafeBC. Temporary digital certificates are typically available within 48 hours (2 business days). Physical certificates are mailed within 30 days.
Level 3 is for those who run the site, not just work on it.
Level 3: Asbestos Safety Leader is designed for supervisors and anyone else responsible for health and safety at asbestos abatement worksites under WorkSafeBC regulations.
Level 3 is required if you
- Supervise workers performing asbestos abatement work
- Plan, oversee, or manage asbestos abatement projects
- Are responsible for health and safety compliance on an abatement worksite
- Hold a foreman, lead hand, supervisor, or site manager role on abatement projects
- Are required by your employer or a project to hold a Level 3 certificate
- Are an asbestos abatement contractor applying for or maintaining a WorkSafeBC Asbestos Abatement Licence. Licensed employers must use workers certified at the appropriate level for all work performed, including supervision (WorkSafeBC)
Level 3 is not required if you
- Only perform hands-on abatement work without supervisory responsibility
- Transport or dispose of asbestos-containing waste only
- Work near asbestos but are not responsible for site health and safety
- Conduct asbestos surveys (Level S applies instead)
What to expect on exam day.
The Level 3 WorkSafeBC certification exam is delivered through the WorkSafeBC approved LMS, with invigilation by 1 Asbestos Academy via Zoom. Exams are administered 7 days a week, so you're not waiting on a weekday time slot once your training is complete. Here is everything you need to know before your scheduled exam session.

- WorkSafeBC publications approved for this exam
- Any materials approved by 1 Asbestos Academy in advance
Not permitted
- Internet searching of any kind
- AI tools or chatbots
- Messaging apps or communication with others
- Unauthorized devices or materials
- Recording or photographing exam content

Your $149.99 fee covers exam administration by 1 Asbestos Academy. Training with a WorkSafeBC registered provider is a separate cost, paid directly to them.

Coordinate both pathways together.
If you hold the prerequisites for both Level 3 and Level S, pursuing them together means one coordinated process, one point of contact, and exams scheduled back to back. Contact us and we will handle the logistics for both pathways.
Level S: Surveyor Safety
Certification pathway for asbestos surveyors. Prerequisite is a valid Level 1 certificate. Same process as Level 3. We administer your WorkSafeBC exam once you've completed training with a registered provider.

No refund policy
All pathway fees and examination bookings are non-refundable once payment has been received, including where training has not yet commenced or the exam has not yet been scheduled.
Rescheduling
At our sole discretion, exam sessions may be rescheduled where operationally possible. Rescheduling is subject to availability and must be requested in advance. Credits hold no cash value.
Prerequisite responsibility
It is the participant's responsibility to hold and provide valid proof of their prerequisite certificate before the pathway begins. Fees are not refundable where a participant is found to be ineligible.
Exam integrity
Any breach of exam integrity may result in termination of the session and reporting to WorkSafeBC Certification Services. No refund will be issued in these circumstances.
