WorkSafeBC exam
WorkSafeBC Foundational Awareness certification exam administered by 1 Asbestos Academy. Open book, multiple choice, 80% to pass.
Exam results submitted
We submit your results to WorkSafeBC Certification Services. Your certificate is issued directly by WorkSafeBC once processed.
Up to 8 participants
Level 2 accommodates up to 8 workers per session to ensure hands-on practical assessment can be conducted properly for every participant.
Level 2 is for workers who perform asbestos abatement and removal.
Any worker who physically handles, disturbs, or removes asbestos-containing materials must hold a valid Level 2 certificate under WorkSafeBC regulations.
Level 2 is right for you if you
- Perform hands-on asbestos removal or abatement work
- Set up, maintain, or dismantle asbestos containment areas
- Handle or disturb asbestos-containing materials directly
- Work on regulated asbestos abatement projects
- Are required by your employer or a project to hold a Level 2 certificate
Level 2 is not required if you
- Only transport or dispose of asbestos-containing waste materials
- Work near asbestos but not directly with it
- Supervise workers in a low-risk asbestos environment
- Are completing general awareness training only
- Do not perform any hands-on abatement work

Level 2 is delivered over 1.5 days. Day 1 is a short day covering theory. Day 2 is a full day: the hands-on practical skills assessment, followed by the WorkSafeBC written exam.

Containment, PPE, and decontamination
How to set up and maintain containment areas, select and use respiratory protection and PPE, and follow proper decontamination procedures.
Waste handling and site compliance
Asbestos waste classification, packaging, labelling, transport, and disposal requirements. Exposure control plans and worksite documentation.
Practical Skills Assessment and WorkSafeBC Exam
Level 2: Asbestos SafetyPPE donning and doffing
Participants demonstrate correct procedure for putting on and removing respirators, Tyvek suits, gloves, and boots in a regulated abatement context.
Containment setup and decontamination
Hands-on demonstration of containment area setup, maintenance, and decontamination procedures as required under WorkSafeBC standards.
Safe abatement work practices
Practical demonstration of safe work practices for asbestos abatement tasks. Assessment conducted by 1 Asbestos Academy against WorkSafeBC competency requirements.
WorkSafeBC exam
Online exam administered by 1 Asbestos Academy, following a passed practical skills assessment. Open book, multiple choice, 80% passing grade. Results displayed immediately on submission.

Day 1 is classroom theory only. Day 2 includes the practical skills assessment and the written exam.
Required
- ✓ Valid government-issued photo ID. Driver's Licence, Passport, or BC Services Card. Workers without valid ID may not be permitted to write the exam.
- ✓ A laptop or desktop computer with a working webcam and stable internet connection is strongly recommended for the exam. Cell phones are not permitted.
- ✓ Course manual (provided and included in your course fee).
PPE required for Day 2
Day 2 includes the practical skills assessment. You must bring:
- ! Steel-toed boots
- ! Half mask respirator or full-face PAPR
- ! Tyvek suit
Optional safety gear is available for purchase through 1 Asbestos Academy if needed.
What to expect on exam day.
The Level 2 practical skills assessment and the WorkSafeBC written exam are both conducted on Day 2, with the exam administered immediately after a passed practical assessment.

No refund policy
All course registrations and examination bookings are non-refundable. This applies to missed classes, late arrivals, scheduling conflicts, and failure to meet ID requirements.
Rescheduling
At our sole discretion, participants unable to attend may be issued a training credit or seat transfer to a future available date. Credits hold no cash value and are non-transferable.
Private and group bookings
All private and group training dates are non-refundable. Reserved training dates may not be cancelled without operational consequence.
Cancellation by 1 Asbestos Academy
We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel training due to insufficient enrollment, instructor illness, or operational requirements. Participants will be offered a transfer or training credit.
