Code of Ethics.
Our Code of Ethics defines the standards of professional conduct we expect in the delivery of training, examinations, assessments, administration, and related services.
This public Code of Ethics reflects the principles that guide 1 Asbestos Academy's internal governance. It applies to the way we approach training delivery, examination and assessment administration, participant interactions, confidentiality, professional judgement, and organizational accountability.
Ethical and Professional Conduct
We conduct training, examination, assessment, and administrative activities with professionalism, integrity, objectivity, care, and respect.
Decisions should support the credibility of the training and assessment process and should be capable of being explained and defended based on applicable requirements, documented procedures, and the information available at the time.
Accurate Representation
We are committed to accurately representing the services we provide, our qualifications, the scope of our training programs, and any authority or approval applicable to a particular service.
- We do not knowingly exaggerate or misrepresent qualifications, approvals, course outcomes, or certification authority.
- We distinguish between training, examination administration, assessment, and the issuance of a regulatory certificate where those responsibilities belong to different organizations.
- Marketing and participant communications should be clear enough that a reasonable person can understand what service they are purchasing and what completing that service does and does not authorize.
Fairness, Respect & Accessibility
Participants are entitled to professional and respectful treatment regardless of employer, experience level, language ability, learning needs, examination performance, or personal background.
We make reasonable efforts to remove unnecessary barriers to participation while preserving the integrity, safety, competency, identity verification, and examination requirements applicable to the service being delivered.
Respect does not mean lowering required standards. It means helping people understand those standards and providing a fair opportunity to meet them.
Safety, Competence & Professional Responsibility
Personnel performing work on behalf of 1 Asbestos Academy are expected to operate within their competence, qualifications, assigned responsibilities, and applicable authorization.
- Training should be delivered competently, diligently, and professionally.
- Safety requirements are not to be disregarded for convenience, scheduling pressure, or commercial advantage.
- Workers should be encouraged to ask questions and raise concerns when they do not understand a procedure or believe a condition may be unsafe.
- Practical trade experience may be used to make instruction more relatable, but experience does not replace applicable legislation, approved procedures, or program requirements.
Examination & Assessment Integrity
Examinations and assessments must be administered in a manner that protects their fairness, security, credibility, and validity.
- Required identity, eligibility, invigilation, and examination procedures are followed.
- Examination materials and restricted assessment information are protected against unauthorized access or disclosure.
- Cheating, misconduct, irregularities, or material disruptions are addressed and reported where required.
- Personal relationships, commercial interests, or participant pressure must not influence assessment outcomes.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Participant, employer, examination, regulatory, and business information is handled with appropriate care and only for legitimate purposes connected to the service being provided or another lawful purpose.
Access to confidential or personal information should be limited to those who require it to perform their duties. Information should not be disclosed merely because it is convenient to do so.
Additional information about how personal information is collected, used, protected, retained, and disclosed is available in our Privacy Policy.
Impartiality & Conflicts of Interest
Training and assessment activities should be carried out impartially and without improper influence.
Actual, potential, or reasonably perceived conflicts of interest should be identified and addressed before they compromise the fairness or credibility of a decision.
No person should receive preferential or adverse treatment because of a personal relationship, business relationship, financial interest, disagreement, or other consideration unrelated to the applicable training or assessment requirements.
Positive Workplace Culture
We believe ethical conduct and safety culture are closely connected.
We encourage professional communication, accountability, participation, and a workplace environment where people look out for one another and can raise legitimate safety or ethical concerns without fear of being dismissed for speaking up.
Our instructors are expected to model the same conduct we encourage workers to carry into the field.
Reporting Ethical Concerns
Participants, employers, personnel, contractors, and other affected individuals may raise concerns regarding suspected misconduct, unethical behaviour, conflicts of interest, unfair treatment, confidentiality, examination integrity, or other conduct connected with our services.
Good-faith concerns are reviewed objectively and with appropriate confidentiality. No individual should face retaliation from 1 Asbestos Academy for raising a genuine concern in good faith.
Accountability & Corrective Action
Ethical commitments have little value without accountability.
Where a concern, incident, complaint, audit result, or operational issue identifies a weakness, the matter may be documented, reviewed, and addressed through appropriate corrective or improvement measures.
Depending on the circumstances, measures may include clarification of procedures, additional training, changes to documentation or systems, supervision, restriction of responsibilities, or other reasonable corrective action.
Continual Improvement
We treat mistakes, feedback, complaints, regulatory changes, audit findings, and operational lessons as opportunities to strengthen our systems.
Our objective is not to create the appearance that problems never occur. Our objective is to identify problems when they occur, respond appropriately, and reduce the likelihood that they happen again.
Review of This Code
This public Code of Ethics is reviewed at least annually and may also be reviewed when regulatory, contractual, organizational, or operational changes affect the standards described here.
Where applicable law, regulatory requirements, an authorized program requirement, or a binding agreement establishes a higher standard than this public Code, the higher requirement applies.
